We are thrilled to announce a special, recurring event at Strata Apartments that is sure to bring a wag to your tail and a smile to your face: our "Read to a Dog" sessions!   There is something truly magical about the bond between humans and animals, especially when it comes to the gentle, non-judgmental presence of a pup. Whether you are a young reader building confidence, a student looking for a relaxing study break, or simply a book lover who enjoys the company of furry friends, this event is perfect for you. We invite residents of all ages and reading levels to come and spend some quality time with our very special volunteer dogs—Joey, Clyde, and Mim. These calm and friendly companions are ready to sit by your side, listen intently to your favorite tales, and provide a cozy audience for your reading adventures.   Event Details: Who: Readers of all ages are welcome! Please note that for safety and comfort, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. What: Enjoy a 15-minute dedicated reading session with one of our volunteer dogs. Summer is in full swing, and there is no better way to beat the heat than escaping into the hilarious world of theater. We are thrilled to spotlight a production coming to our local stage that is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles: Gutenberg! The Musical!   If you’ve ever wondered what happens when immense ambition meets a truly questionable idea, this is the show for you. Written by Anthony King and Scott Brown, this two-man musical spoof is an absolute riot. The premise is wonderfully meta: we follow two aspiring, slightly delusional playwrights, Bud and Doug, who are hosting a "backers’ audition." Their goal? To convince a room of producers to fund their brand-new, big-budget, splashy musical about none other than Johann Gutenberg, the man who invented the printing press.   Yes, you read that correctly. A musical about the printing press.   It is an ill-advised project in the best way possible. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud (played by the talented Richie Call) and Doug (played by the equally dynamic Stefan Espinosa) take on the Herculean task of performing every single song and playing every single character in their "crass historical epic." It is a testament to their acting chops that they can carry the weight of an entire Broadway-style show all by themselves, all while navigating the comedy of their own misguided creative process.   Whether you are a theater buff who loves a good send-up of Broadway tropes or you just need a night of laugh-out-loud entertainment, this show hits the mark. Cache Valley's Greatest Summer Tradition Returns: The USU Alumni Band Concert Series!-image

Get ready to experience the sound of summer in Cache Valley! One of the region's greatest summer traditions, the Utah State University Alumni Band Concert Series, is returning for another fantastic series of performances at the Daines Concert Hall. T his beloved event is more than just a concert; it is a cherished annual gift from the university, presented free and open to the public, with no tickets or reserved seating required.   The history of this celebrated tradition dates back to 1963 when it was first founded by Director of Bands Emeritus Max F. Dalby . It has since become a highly anticipated fixture of the summer calendar . Today, the concerts feature the outstanding Utah State University Alumni Band, drawing from a roster of over 500 accomplished alumni of the band program . These dedicated musicians are not only graduates of the program but many are also professional musicians or music teachers . Their talent is impressive, with some members subbing with the Utah Symphony or playing in other major ensembles like the Orchestra on Temple Square . Director Lane Weaver has noted that the dedication of these alumni is remarkable, as they manage to put together each concert with just one 90-minute rehearsal on the day of the performance .   The concerts are directed by the talented trio of Lane Weaver, Nicholas Morrison, and Thomas Rohrer . According to Weaver, these are “fun, family-friendly, crowd-friendly concerts that engage the audience,” making them a wonderful way to enjoy a summer evening . Nicholas Morrison, another director, emphasizes that these performances are a "gift to the community" .   The performances promise exciting and varied musical programs, with special guest performers featured throughout the summer . This theatre is located on Utah State University. Tickets start at $38 each. This is an amazing opportunity to support our local theatre, right here in Cache Valley!   The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory—but only to a lucky few. Follow young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners as they embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s spectacular world. Prepare to be amazed by chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, and the great glass elevator, all revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas.   The musical features a book by David Greig, with music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman.
