As October nights grow dark and chilly across Cache Valley, the American West Heritage Center in Wellsville, Utah, transforms into a realm of spine-tingling history and eerie lore. This fall, prepare for an unforgettable thrill as the Haunted Hollow returns with its captivating 2026 theme: “Local Legends.”

Set against the dark backdrop of the Wellsville Mountains, the Haunted Hollow takes brave visitors on an immersive outdoor journey through time, resurrecting the mysterious tales and shadowy figures that have haunted Northern Utah for generations. As you navigate the winding trails and historic grounds of the 160-acre living history center, keep an eye out for iconic regional myths brought to life with spooky sets, creepy special effects, and a talented cast of actors:
  • Old Ephraim, the Phantom Grizzly: Encounter the lurking threat of Logan Canyon’s most famous beast. Standing nearly ten feet tall and weighing over 1,100 pounds, "Old Three Toes" terrorized livestock in the early 1900s before becoming one of Cache Valley's most famous wilderness specters.
  • The Bear Lake Monster: Watch the dark waters for glimpses of Utah’s notorious serpentine lake creature. First reported in the 1860s, this swift aquatic beast with razor teeth and glowing eyes has intrigued and terrified locals for over 150 years.
  • Pioneer Ghosts & Mountain Men: Meet phantom trappers, eerie homesteaders, and restless spirits from Utah's frontier past who still roam the historic cabins, barns, and surrounding wooded hollows.

  • Dates: Friday and Saturday nights throughout October 2026
  • Hours: 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM (Last ticket sold at 10:00 PM)
  • Age Recommendation: Recommended for thrill-seekers ages 8 and older.
