Printing Press, Panic, and Pure Comedy: Get Ready for Gutenberg! The Musical!-image

Summer is in full swing, and there is no better way to beat the heat than escaping into the hilarious world of theater. We are thrilled to spotlight a production coming to our local stage that is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles: Gutenberg! The Musical!   If you’ve ever wondered what happens when immense ambition meets a truly questionable idea, this is the show for you. Written by Anthony King and Scott Brown, this two-man musical spoof is an absolute riot. The premise is wonderfully meta: we follow two aspiring, slightly delusional playwrights, Bud and Doug, who are hosting a "backers’ audition." Their goal? To convince a room of producers to fund their brand-new, big-budget, splashy musical about none other than Johann Gutenberg, the man who invented the printing press.   Yes, you read that correctly. A musical about the printing press.   It is an ill-advised project in the best way possible. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud (played by the talented Richie Call) and Doug (played by the equally dynamic Stefan Espinosa) take on the Herculean task of performing every single song and playing every single character in their "crass historical epic." It is a testament to their acting chops that they can carry the weight of an entire Broadway-style show all by themselves, all while navigating the comedy of their own misguided creative process.   Whether you are a theater buff who loves a good send-up of Broadway tropes or you just need a night of laugh-out-loud entertainment, this show hits the mark. Because of its humor and thematic elements, the production carries a PG-13 rating; please note that children under the age of 5 are not admitted.   Performance Schedule: Evening Shows (7:30 PM): July 3, 4, 7, 24, 28, 30 Matinee Shows (1:00 PM): July 4, July 18 Don’t miss your chance to see Bud and Doug chase their elusive Broadway contract. It’s a hilarious, high-energy experience that reminds us all to follow our dreams—even if those dreams involve a singing printing press inventor. Grab your tickets and get ready for a night of musical madness!
