A Night of Folk Harmony:-image

There are some musical pairings that feel inevitable, born from miles of shared experience and a mutual love for the craft. Such is the case for the upcoming "Rough Romance" tour, featuring two of the most talented folk/Americana duos touring today: The Rough & Tumble and Flagship Romance. This summer, Providence is set to host a night of high energy, rich four-part harmonies, and infectious hooks that you won’t want to miss.   It’s a story ten years in the making. After a combined 500,000 miles on the road navigating the indie/folk circuit, these two acts kept crossing paths, spotting each other’s posters on venue walls across the country. It took a single meeting for them to realize the potential of joining forces, sparking the text thread that would eventually concoct the "Rough Romance" tour.   What can you expect from the show? It is being billed as a night of "open-armed, deep-in-the-belly songs" that are as intimate as they are universal. Whether you are there for the delightful energy—which has been described by fans as being as refreshing as your first cup of coffee—or the incredible musicianship, it promises to be a jubilant experience. It is a show that has quickly become a highlight of the year for many, offering a rare chance to watch four accomplished musicians and genuine friends share the stage in pure harmony.   Event Details   The concert will take place at the beautiful Von Baer Park in Providence, starting at 7:00 PM. As this is an outdoor performance, we recommend arriving a bit early and bringing a comfortable chair or blanket to settle in and enjoy the tunes under the open sky.   Hungry? We’ve got you covered. Lucky Slice Pizza will be available for pre-order and delivery directly to the park, ensuring you can enjoy a delicious meal without missing a beat of the performance.   Support the Arts and Save   We want to make this evening accessible to our supporters! Printing Press, Panic, and Pure Comedy: Get Ready for Gutenberg! The Musical!-image

Summer is in full swing, and there is no better way to beat the heat than escaping into the hilarious world of theater. We are thrilled to spotlight a production coming to our local stage that is guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles: Gutenberg! The Musical!   If you’ve ever wondered what happens when immense ambition meets a truly questionable idea, this is the show for you. Written by Anthony King and Scott Brown, this two-man musical spoof is an absolute riot. The premise is wonderfully meta: we follow two aspiring, slightly delusional playwrights, Bud and Doug, who are hosting a "backers’ audition." Their goal? To convince a room of producers to fund their brand-new, big-budget, splashy musical about none other than Johann Gutenberg, the man who invented the printing press.   Yes, you read that correctly. A musical about the printing press.   It is an ill-advised project in the best way possible. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud (played by the talented Richie Call) and Doug (played by the equally dynamic Stefan Espinosa) take on the Herculean task of performing every single song and playing every single character in their "crass historical epic." It is a testament to their acting chops that they can carry the weight of an entire Broadway-style show all by themselves, all while navigating the comedy of their own misguided creative process.   Whether you are a theater buff who loves a good send-up of Broadway tropes or you just need a night of laugh-out-loud entertainment, this show hits the mark. Because of its humor and thematic elements, the production carries a PG-13 rating; please note that children under the age of 5 are not admitted.   Performance Schedule: Evening Shows (7:30 PM): July 3, 4, 7, 24, 28, 30 Matinee Shows (1:00 PM): July 4, July 18 Don’t miss your chance to see Bud and Doug chase their elusive Broadway contract. It’s a hilarious, high-energy experience that reminds us all to follow our dreams—even if those dreams involve a singing printing press inventor. Grab your tickets and get ready for a night of musical madness!
