The premise is wonderfully meta: we follow two aspiring, slightly delusional playwrights, Bud and Doug, who are hosting a "backers’ audition." Their goal? To convince a room of producers to fund their brand-new, big-budget, splashy musical about none other than Johann Gutenberg, the man who invented the printing press.

It is an ill-advised project in the best way possible. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud (played by the talented Richie Call) and Doug (played by the equally dynamic Stefan Espinosa) take on the Herculean task of performing every single song and playing every single character in their "crass historical epic." It is a testament to their acting chops that they can carry the weight of an entire Broadway-style show all by themselves, all while navigating the comedy of their own misguided creative process.
Whether you are a theater buff who loves a good send-up of Broadway tropes or you just need a night of laugh-out-loud entertainment, this show hits the mark.
